12 Sep Too Busy to Enjoy the Benefits of Meditation or Mindfulness?
Did you know that one of the benefits of practicing a form of meditation is increased productivity? Taking just 10 minutes a day to practice meditation or mindfulness can actually create more space in your day later on. A novel concept, isn’t it?
Meditation can be as simple as you make it. You don’t have to wait for the right setting, have the right outfit, or join a group to meditate. It can be as straightforward as focusing on your breathing for a few minutes every day. Since meditation is a relaxed state of being for YOU, you can take time anytime, anywhere to practice. There are even guided meditations that you can download or apps that you can add to your phone or watch to help you get started with a meditation/mindfulness practice.

How is Mindfulness different than Meditation?
Mindfulness is a type of meditation in which you focus on being intensely aware of what you’re sensing and feeling in the moment, without interpretation or judgement. A form of mindfulness could be focusing on the breath, or focusing on sounds around us.
Walking is another wonderful way to experience mindfulness. Enjoy the scenery, focus on breath, and how your body feels when you are walking. Is it sunny, rainy or windy? How does the cool autumn breeze feel on your skin? How does the wind rustling through the Fall leaves sound to you? Become aware of other sounds like birds calling in the background, or the sound of your own footsteps. The idea is to remove all of the daily thoughts from our minds and only focus on that which surrounds us in this moment.
